Let’s be honest – sometimes building something you believe in feels less like an inspiring journey and more like dragging a wheelie bin uphill in the rain.
This week, I had a wobble. A big one.
I felt hopeless. I questioned whether The Growth Nexus will ever make me any money, let alone provide the comfortable life I’m aiming for. And because I spiralled into that “what’s the point?” place, I neglected social media – which then left me with a side order of guilt and shame. Sound familiar?
If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in that cycle of self-doubt, you’ll know it’s bloody exhausting.
Why the Wobbles Happen
Here’s what I’ve noticed:
-
The Slow Burn – When you’re building something from scratch, the results don’t come instantly. That’s bloody frustrating in a world of “six-figure in six weeks” promises.
-
Comparisonitis – Seeing everyone else’s shiny wins online makes your own slog feel even heavier.
-
Survival Mode – When money’s tight, trying to act “abundant” can feel like gaslighting yourself. It’s hard to visualise wealth when you’re counting pennies.
-
The Inner Gremlins – Imposter syndrome, perfectionism, people-pleasing… they love to pop up when you’re tired and vulnerable.
The Guilt and Shame Spiral
Here’s the kicker: when you wobble, you don’t just feel bad – you beat yourself up for feeling bad. You tell yourself you’ve failed because you didn’t post, didn’t push, didn’t “show up.”
But guilt and shame are sneaky thieves. They steal your energy for no return.
What Helps Me Climb Out
Call it what it is
A wobble isn’t failure. It’s just part of the process. Naming it takes away some of its power.
Shrink the win
When everything feels too much, I focus on one tiny step. Post one thing. Write one line. Do one action. Momentum builds from there.
Reframe the timeline
Remind yourself: you’re not behind. You’re building foundations. Seeds take root in the dark before you ever see them sprout.
Let yourself feel it
Pretending to be “positive” when you’re drowning just makes it worse. Allow the meltdown, then move through it.
Remember your why
I didn’t start The Growth Nexus just to flog journals and insert packs. I started it because I know what it feels like to lose yourself – and I want other women to have a place to rebuild.
Reach for connection
A quick chat with a trusted friend, journaling in the Collective, or even sharing an honest post online reminds me I’m not doing this alone.
Final Word
If you’ve been wobbling too, you’re not alone. The slow road is the real road. And as frustrating as it feels, every time we get back up, we’re proving to ourselves that we’re still in the game.
So, here I am – back on the bus (even if it’s the annoyingly slow one). And if you’re wobbling? Slide into the seat next to me. We’ll ride it out together. 🚍💪
Try This: Journal Prompt ✍️
When was the last time you had a wobble?
-
What triggered it?
-
What story did your mind tell you at the time?
-
Looking back now, what truth can you see that your wobble-self couldn’t?
-
What’s one small action you can take today to get back on your feet?
Grab your journal and give yourself ten minutes to explore. You might be surprised at the clarity that comes from writing it down.
(And if you need extra support, the Mindset Reset insert pack is packed with prompts just like this to help you catch your gremlins before they run the show. It’s also free for members of the Nexus Collective.)
