We’ve all heard the phrase “clarity is power” – and while that’s not wrong, it also sets a trap. Because if you’re anything like me, you’ve probably spent far too long waiting for clarity to strike before you take action. Spoiler alert: it rarely works like that.
Clarity is lovely. It’s comforting. It makes everything feel a bit more certain. But courage? Courage gets shit done. And sometimes, courage has to come first.
Why We Wait for Clarity
We hold off on launching the offer, starting the blog, showing up on video, because we’re not “100% clear” on the message yet. We want the plan. The path. The perfect words.
But here’s the problem:
Clarity often comes after you move, not before.
Waiting for clarity can become a very well-disguised form of procrastination. A fear-based perfectionism trap in a fancy outfit.
Trust me, I know. I’ve danced with that particular demon more times than I can count.
Been There, Journaled That
Recently, I shared a couple of old journal entries over on Nexus Notebook – one from 2021, another from way back in 2020. Both were full of fire, frustration, and me giving myself the pep talks I clearly needed to hear.
One entry said:
“Become UNFUCKWITHABLE right now and just go all in on what I want to do. DROP THE FEAR.”
Yeah, that version of me knew what was up.
But here I am, a few years on, still having to remind myself of those exact words. Because courage isn’t something you master once – it’s something you recommit to over and over, especially when the path ahead looks foggy.
So What Do You Do When You Don’t Know What to Do?
Let’s make this practical. Here’s what to do when clarity is nowhere to be found, but your soul is screaming at you to do something.
1. Take One Brave Step
Don’t wait for the full plan. Pick one thing that feels like movement. Post the blog. Publish the offer. Say the damn thing. Action creates momentum.
2. Let Curiosity Lead
Instead of needing to “figure it all out,” get curious. What feels interesting right now? What idea won’t leave you alone? Follow that thread, even if it doesn’t make sense yet.
3. Stop Outsourcing Your Truth
No coach, mentor, or podcast can hand you your clarity. Tune inwards. Journal. Breathe. Listen to what you already know (you know more than you think).
4. Build Confidence Through Doing
Confidence isn’t a prerequisite. It’s a result. The more you show up, even in wobbly courage, the more clear and confident you become.
Remember This…
You don’t need a 5-year plan to take one intentional step. You don’t need to know the whole path to start walking.
Courage is clarity in its early stages. And sometimes the bravest thing you can do is to start anyway.
If you’re stuck in the messy middle right now, you’re not broken. You’re building.
And I promise, the clarity you want is on the other side of the action you’re scared to take.
You’ve got this.
