For Fox Sake, Imposter Syndrome is Not a Vibe

Welcome to the first post in my new Real Talk series, where I’ll be sharing the ups, downs, and everything in between from my entrepreneurial journey – no sugar-coating, no fluff, just the messy, real stuff behind the scenes. Let’s kick off with a juicy one: Imposter Syndrome.

You know what? I’ve started more businesses than I care to count. Some never got past a domain name and a few scribbles in a notebook. Others had logos, websites, Facebook pages, even a few brave attempts at selling something. You might even remember a few of them: The Business Connection, ikandoo, ACTS Events, Tvarus, FlorenceatNumber9.

Each one of them had potential. But most of them didn’t go anywhere. Not because they weren’t good ideas. Not because I didn’t have the skills. But because of me. Because of fear. Because of that insidious little bastard called Imposter Syndrome.

It’s that voice that whispers, Who do you think you are? That convinces you that everyone’s watching and waiting for you to mess up. That makes you second-guess every decision, every post, every offer.

So what did I do? I held back. I dithered. I waited until I felt more confident – which, spoiler alert, never magically happened. Every time I didn’t see immediate traction, I convinced myself it wasn’t working and quietly gave up.

Even now, building The Growth Nexus, that voice still shows up. Especially when I’m doing something new or uncomfortable. Like putting myself out there with a new membership, or showing my face on video, or (hello irony) writing this blog post.

But here’s what’s changed:

I’m not letting it stop me anymore.

It’s not that I’ve magically cured Imposter Syndrome. It’s that I’ve learned to work with it. To recognise when it’s showing up. To name it. And to keep bloody going anyway.

That’s exactly why I created the Mindset Reset insert pack as part of the Nexus Journal System. Because these mindset wobbles don’t just disappear because you’ve got a great business plan. They show up in the in-between moments – when you’re second-guessing that launch, wondering if your ideas are worth sharing, or holding back from telling people what you actually do.

I used that very insert myself recently, and even though nothing in it was earth-shatteringly new, something about writing it down and seeing it in black and white helped me move forward. Pencil in hand, fears on paper, and a quiet but stubborn “I’m doing this anyway” kind of energy.

So, if you’ve ever felt like you’re not good enough, or like you’re just pretending and one day everyone will find you out – you’re not alone. Not even close.

You’re not failing. You’re just growing.

And growth? That shit’s messy.

Keep going, my friend. Even if you’re doing it with a fox mask on.

Want to start tackling your own mind gremlins?

Grab the Mindset Reset insert pack and get those thoughts on paper. Because awareness is the first step, and action is what moves you forward.
